Beautiful Homes Photos

Question: How do I calibrate my computer screen to be a true representation of my digital photos when printed?
I have a very nice/expensive DSLR camera, some nice digital photo editing software, and a beautiful hp computer screen to view them on. The pictures look WONDERFUL on the computer screen, but when I try to print them they look SIGNIFICANTLY different... colors are muted (esp. reds), all of the photos print much darker, in short.. they're disappointing. I have the same problem when I send my photos to a photo lab and have them printed (i.e. Walmart or Target) and when I print them on my printer at home. How do I get my photos to print the way they appear on my computer?
I was thinking that I need to calibrate my computer screen to better represent the colors that are going to be printed? Please help me solve this problem!
Answer: Buy a monitor calibrator and download ICC profiles.
Huey Pantone, Spyder, and EyeOne Display all offer fantastic monitor calibrators. be prepared to spend $100 or more. Or if you're okay with used, check out ebay. I got a decent Spyder2 calibrator for $30 to tide me over til I can afford something much nicer.
If you plan to print a lot at home with your own personal printer, you'll want to get a printer profiler as well. ColorMunki is pretty good, but something like $400 I believe. But it's worth it to invest in things like this so you don't have to keep printing unusable prints when you're not sure how things are going to turn out.

We have a big yard ANY suggestions?? My bf wrks frm home so the basement will be turned into an office. Basically i just want to know what you did to fill a home when its just 2 people? Any help would be great?!
Answer: Well I have a friend who just moved in down the street. It sounds like they have almost the same setup. They have a living room, dining room, basement, office, and two bedrooms. One bedroom they made a small sitting room with just a few pieces of furniture that could be easily moved. This is for when they have their first baby, so they can move the things out and have the nursery in there. If you plan on having kids it might be a good idea to do the same. You could also make another small sitting room that would double as a playroom. They just have a small bookcase with a few kids books and bins of small toys, like Lego's and stuffed animals. They also have a cabinet with a tv in it in there so there's another TV room.
You could get a twin bed and put it in the room to double as a guest room for relatives when they stay over.
It might be nice to have a little garden in the backyard. You could also put some patio furnature back there and get a fire pit. (not an in-ground one, just a little one you might find at home depot)
Good luck!! And it sounds like you're in a wonderful situation. I wish you all the best!

How To Make House Look Beautiful

Question: What type insurance would I need for loaned artwork that I am displaying at my open house?Where can I get it?
I am hosting an open house for a luxury home. I have found some artists who will allow me to use their artwork to make the house look beautiful. But they do not provide their own insurance beyond transportation. How can I insure their artwork for the 3 days of the open house?
Answer: It's called Bailee coverage. A "one shot" policy covering a 3 day event is probably going to run you about $500; if you plan on doing this more than once, it might be more cost effective to do it on a reporting form or blanket basis, for a full year.
You can go to a local, independent agent (starting with the guy that writes YOUR insurance, if he's independent) to get some quotes. It will likely take a week or so to place, so allow some time!! If your guy can't do it, ask him for a referral.
***Coverage for property of others in your care, custody & control is called bailee coverage. Bailee is a TYPE of inland marine policy. Short term coverage, for a three day even, is called special event - usually property coverages and liability coverages are NOT combined on one policy, for a special event policy.***
