Question: home addition dilemma?

We have a single story ranch style home - about 1500 square feet. We would like to build a 2 car garage, with an apartment above (for our college age son) along with a small workshop (for me) and a bonus room (man-room for my husband) both on the same level as the garage. We will be adding about 1000 square foot of living space not including the garage. We are planning to attach to current house with a covered porch. My concern is that with it being 2 stories, at least for the apartment part, it will look as if we built a "castle" addition along side a shack. Well, maybe not that bad. But I am afraid it will look ODD. Does anyone know of any sites that have good pictures of additions to small that I could look at to get some ideas of what we want before we start having plans drawn up? Thanks

Answer: If the siding is redone and matches it should look fine.
