Question: Is this totally sexist to think without reading the book?

I'm a 13 yr. old boy living with my dad. My 20 yr. old bro also lives at home. I mentioned to him that I was going to read Chelsea Handler's books. He said, and I quote, "You will not like those! They were written for grown up, so you wouldn't understand 10% of her jokes! It's a stupid girl book written by some old lady!" 1. He has never read the books, 2. Is that sexist, to say it's a girl book just because it was written by a woman. That's like saying Harry Potter is a girl book! 3. Old Lady? Chelsea Handler is a beautiful 35 yr. old woman, and 4. I wouldn't get the jokes because I'm not a grown up? Move out of your dad's house and then we can talk about being a grown. Do you agree with any of the points I'm making?

Answer: Yeah, it's sexist. From Harry Potter to Atlas Shrugged to To Kill a Mockingbird, women writers have been writing books men can appreciate for years. To be honest, you sound like you could understand that book a lot better than he can, for all he's an adult.
